Public health and environmental protection

Public Health and wellbeing; There are many different factors that impact on people’s health and wellbeing, therefore the strategies that are used to improve health and wellbeing need to be diverse and to address a number of different influences. Recognising this, the Health and Wellbeing Strategy should identify some key themes:

• protecting the health of the population as a whole.

• Improving health and wellbeing throughout the life course.

• tackling the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.

• providing high quality, person-centred care.

Environmental Protection; Commitment to developing a policy for managing environmental impacts of business and the public. A good environmental policy can help manage resources, achieve cost savings and promote more environmentally friendly practices.

The environmental policy should include statements on reducing the environmental impact of your people, activities and operations. Monitor environmental practices and their effectiveness by regularly reviewing the environmental policy. There should also define strategies about reducing energy consumption, minimising waste, using raw materials more efficiently and preventing pollution.
